Great Trauma for a Woman

By now, you know that hair loss affects millions of men, women and children. This is something which can destroy the self-esteem, confidence and dignity of a person- any person. But, if it is a woman, if can be even more traumatic. We think of most women as beautiful but excessive hair loss tarnished tarnished a woman’s beauty.bald-woman.jpg Hair loss in women shatters the personality and can cause a great deal of humiliation at the same time.

If you feel you are losing excessive hair, you should be concerned and see a professional. Pattern hair loss in women is different from the type of hair loss a man will experience. For men, hair loss is often localized at the top of the head. For women it can be the top of the head as well as the sides of the head.

Women have a tendency to resort to inappropriate treatments such as coloring, perming and pull the hair back which can cause even more hair loss in some instances. Furthermore, women are more susceptible to hormonal imbalance which can make them more prone to hair loss. Post pregnancy or prolonged illness or surgery all can contribute to female hair loss. The use of antidepressant medications and birth control pills which contain anticoagulant can also lead to hair loss in women. Thyroid, whether over-active or under-active, can lead to hair loss in women.

While there are some home hair loss remedies that are actually good for the scalp, a better plan would be to use something specifically formulated for hair loss such as Hair Support System. You can call Fantasia for more information on this product.hair-support-system.jpg

Other things you can do naturally would include consumption of protein rich foods as your hair is comprised of a protein called keratin. And, drink lots of water to stay well hydrated as dehydration can also cause hair loss.

If hair loss continues and you know you are not dealing with any serious health issues, there are many solutions available for you to chose from today. While it is still a traumatic experience for any woman to have to deal with, you can continue living your life to the fullest despite the hair loss issues.

Women’s Hair Loss

Reacting strongly to the physical state of your hair may seem like vanity, I mean, who hasn’t had a bad hair day? Your hair is one of the first areas, along with skin and nails, to manifest signs of hormonal imbalance, poor nutrition and illness.

Understanding how hair regenerates and paying attention to any changes in your hair growth and appearance are an important part of taking care of yourself. It’s more than about vanity.

Truth is, a certain amount of hair loss is normal, probably somewhere between 50-75+ hairs per day. But, excessive hair loss and hair thinning indicates that something is not right. The causes of accelerated hair loss are very individual and depend on a complicated set of factors, including hormonal and metabolic imbalances, emotional stress and nutritional deficiencies.thin-hair-in-women.jpg

The sad thing is, many conventional doctors downplay hair loss as an inevitable part of the aging process for both sexes. They treat it with topical products which enhance the existing hair but offer no real solution to the causes of hair loss. Therefore, there is no prevention of continued hair thinning. Because of this, many women, especially those in menopause, think there is nothing they can do to stop hair loss.

Regularly referred to with the catch all term-alopecia, female hair loss actually has different degrees of severity, causes and treatments. The good news is that many cases can resolve over time with an active, holistic and hopeful approach.hair-support.jpg

A balding woman should not resign herself to shopping for hair thickeners. Hair replacement salons such as Fantasia have many solutions for thinning hair beginning with Hair Support System as well as supplements which can help address nutritional deficiencies. Then, depending on the degree of your hair loss; your hair replacement specialist can offer a solution which would be the best for your individual situation.

Women’s Hair Loss

Are you aware that 20 million women in America are dealing with excessive hair loss? Ten million of them are under the age of 40! It is not uncommon to hear about men’s hair loss but women’s hair loss is seldom mentioned. Why? It’s almost as if our society doesn’t want to admit women’s hair loss is a problem in our culture.

What is “excessive” hair loss? Everyone looses hair regularly, sometimes more than other times. It’s common to loss up to 100 hair per day. Hair goes through three cycles. The first cycle is the Anagen phase, where hair grows. This cycle last about three years. The second phase is called the Catagen phase. During this phase, hair growth ceases and no pigment is produced for about ten days. After the Catagen phase is the Tologen phase where the hair is shed. This cycle typically last for about three months.

In individuals with healthy follicles, about 90%of the hair on the scalp grows at one time. Because the majority of the follicles are in the Anagen phase, and a very small percentage in the Tologen phase, a normal amount of hair falling out is not noticeable.

However, when a follicle is unhealthy, for whatever reason, the hair growth cycles are suspended and the follicle stays in the Tologen phase for an indefinite period of time. As more and more of the follicles stay in the Tologen phase, less new healthy hair is being produced. The result? Thinning hair and ultimately balding, otherwise know as female pattern baldness.
How long will afflicted follicles stay in the Tologen stage? In some cases forever. In other cases hair production will resume. The issue is what caused the follicles to stop producing hair in the first place?

Previously we have discussed what commonly causes hair loss in women. We know it can be any number of things from stress and anxiety, vitamin deficiency, medications, to hormonal, etc. Alopecia (universalis) is a virus for which there is no cure and the hair loss is irreversible. Androgenic hair loss is cause by hormones. This can happen during pregnancy or menopause. When testosterone hormone levels are out of balance, female pattern baldness can be the result. Some women are not able to break down testosterone properly.

There is a lot of testosterone found in a person’s scalp. If the hormone is not breaking down properly as it ages and is ready to be disposed of as waste, a by-product called DHT exists. When too much DHT accumulates in the scalp, hair follicles are affected and begin to atrophy. The hair being produced becomes smaller, weaker in structure and lighter in color. Finally, the hair follicle enters a permanent dormant state and no hair is produced. In some cases Hair Support System, a product sold at Fantasia, can help. But, in other cases, the hair follicle is dead and will not produce, normal healthy hair again.

Fantasia has solutions for woman’s hair loss and would be glad to help you or a loved one dealing with this issue. Please call us today to schedule a consultation and let one of our professionals help you determine what solution would be best for you.
