Blinding bangs are still big. From the runway to Hollywood, this look is all over out there. It’s a fresh look which echos the 60s and 80s fashion sensibility.katie-holmes.jpg

Short hair is back in this season. (Yea!) Whether it’s an asymmetrical crop or a frontal -length bob similar to the one sported by “Posh” Beckham, this look allows you to express your personal style. Don’t be afraid to customize and add a bit your personality to your cut.posh.jpg

Color-wise, the hot color continues to be blond. From warm shades to those edging closer to the platinum status.

Now to accessories! Headbands, ponytail holders, bobbie slides and barrettes are the big things. Adorning your hair with accessories allows you to accessorize an outfit and express your personal style at the same time.hair-accessories.jpg

Don’t just think shoes and purses, think hair accessories to as a great way to add some style to your outfit. Headbands and barrettes are not only pretty, but they are practical and can keep your hair off your face which can be good to let your skin breathe, especially if you have oily skin.

Accessories can be found in simple but sophisticated styles that suit grown women, not just children. But half the fun of them is the child-like whimsy of them! And, unlike shoes and purses, hair accessories are usually inexpensive.

You don’t have to break the bank to start a collection of hair accessories. So if you don’t want to buy clothes because you are too fat and don’t like the “size” you would need to buy, get some hair accessories instead. They will boost your ego and you can have fun with them!

Tips to Prevent Hair Loss

Here are some tips for preventing hair loss. It’s not always about products, treatments and hair replacement. Some times its about the way you treat your hair as you go about your daily life. We cannot give tips without touching on diet and nutrition with regard to keeping hair and scalp healthy. As with anything, if you want change in a given area, you have to be willing to change what you are doing. Otherwise, you will get the same results you are getting now.

Hair is most vulnerable when wet. When your hair is wet, treat it gently. Brush and comb it, gently. Avoid dragging the bristles through the knots. This way you can smooth your hair with out much loss. There are detanglers on the market which will also help with this if your hair is longer and tangles easily.

Chlorine and other harsh chemicals which are used in swimming pools and hot tubs can weaken your hair shaft and cause the hair to break off when tugged. If you are swimming in chlorine treated water and are in the sun, know that the combination of chlorine and sun doubles the potential for damage to your hair. The sun will dry out your hair and bleach it. This can get expensive if you are paying big bucks for your hair color!

The hair tools and accessories you choose can also potentially weaken and break hair shafts. Select a blow dryer that does not get “extra” hot. Avoid stiff nylon brushes and combs with teeth too close together. Don’t use sharp edged plastic hair accessories which can break hair and don’t pull your hair too tightly in braids, pigtails or ponytails. When you want to pull your hair back or up, use covered elastic bands rather than rubber bands which will pull your hair out.

If you damage your hair with chemicals such as bleach or chlorine, make sure to condition it right away. If you color or bleach your hair, use the milder natural formulas to avoid additional harsh chemicals on your already damaged scalp and hair. A good conditioner will fill in the hair shaft and make it stronger. You may want to spend the money to have your hair professionally conditioned. It will be worth it!

Supplement your diet to assure the right balance of nutrition so that your hair and scalp can be healthy! Some of the vitamins which help the hair are vitamin A, vitamin C, vitamin E, inositol, niacin, pantothenic acid, vitamin B6 and vitamin B12. Minerals needed for healthy hair include calcium, chromium, copper, iodine, iron, magnesium, manganese, potassium, selenium, silica, sulfur and zinc. As with anything natural, if you start supplementing these things today, you may not see results immediately. It could take up to two months but the results will be worth the wait.

These are just some common sense tips, most of which you already know. When you are gentle with your hair and condition it regularly, it will become stronger and more resistant to breakage and hair loss. We all loose hair daily, but, we can prevent some of the excessive hair loss by doing some of these simple things.
